Chapter Committees and Activities

American History- Sponsor the American History Essay Contest in local school grades five through eight.

American Indians- Provide school supplies to the Native American Education Program in the Elk Grove Unified School District.  

Conservation- Focused on protecting and conserving our natural resources through education, promotion, and encourage good stewardship practices for a more sustainable future.

Constitution Week- Encourages study and educates the public about the Constitution, which was adopted by the American Congress of the Confederation on September 17, 1787. Local activities include obtaining proclamations from local government and public governing agencies to recognize Constitution Week September 17-23. Displays in local libraries also highlight this important document.

DAR Good Citizens- The DAR Good Citizens program is a wonderful way to recognize outstanding young people who exhibit the qualities of good citizenship in their homes, schools, and communities. Area high schools select a senior as their DAR Good Citizens recipient and the chapter recognizes them at a special event.

DAR Magazine- The American Spirit magazine is an award-winning publication that features well-written and beautifully illustrated stories of interest to everyone who enjoys history, genealogy, patriotism, and education. Donate subscriptions to these wonderful periodicals to local libraries and schools. 

DAR Project Patriot- Supports America’s service members and their families in any way appropriate. Activities range from sending care packages to relatives of chapter members or supporting local Reserves and National Guard units and their families.

DAR School- Promote support to DAR Schools and DAR Approved Schools. Contributions made by individuals, chapters, and states aid the students in a wide range of needs from teachers, student support, and housing and building support.

DAR Service for Veterans- Provides a tangible way for DAR members to say "thank you" by acknowledging and recognizing veterans' service, sacrifice, and commitment to the preservation of our nation's freedom. Of special importance is the recognition of and appreciation for women veterans' service

Flag of the United States of America- Promote a deep patriotic sense of respect for our flag with these principle objectives: to keep the flag flying and to protect it continuously under all conditions, as well as to educate citizens regarding its correct usage. 

Historic Preservation- Honors the nation’s heritage, focuses on the future, and celebrates America through the Historic Preservation Grants Program, awards, and recognizes worthy chapter and state projects at the state, division, and national levels.

National Defense- To preserve our American heritage of freedom, to protect the U.S. Constitution, and to ensure the survival of our national sovereignty. Advocates a strong military defense and unwavering faithfulness to the ideals of the Founding Fathers as outlined in the U.S. Constitution with the bi-monthly National Defender newsletter.  

Women's Issues- Focuses on health, career, and family through educating and empowering ourselves to serve the National Society and our communities.
